Grant overview
This fund was created to ensure that graduate students can participate in the Big Thinking Summit: Future-ready graduate education in Canada at McMaster University in Hamilton, October 15- 16. This grant is available for graduate students whose research intersects with the humanities and social sciences. It aims to help cover the costs that may hinder their attendance at the Big Thinking Summit. Funding of $500 for up to 21 candidates is available. The funding amount may be increased at the discretion of the Federation.
Eligibility
Candidates must meet the following criteria:

Be a student (undergraduate, graduate, or diploma academic program) enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada;

Their research or graduate contributions must intersect with the humanities and social sciences;

Attend the Big Thinking Summit: Future-ready graduate education in Canada at McMaster University in Hamilton, October 15-16.

Process
Eligible applicants can apply directly to this fund by submitting the application form.
Recipients will be selected through a lottery among eligible candidates.
Applicants must submit a personal essay of up to 500 words about themselves and their research. However, the essay's details will not impact award decisions beyond confirming eligibility.
To apply, please submit this form by October 10, 2025, at 23:59 ET.
The Federation will verify attendance at the Summit. Funding decisions will be communicated to all applicants on a rolling basis or by October 13, 2025.
Payment Successful applicants are required to submit a banking information form by October 24, 2025, at 23:59 ET.
The prize amount will be disbursed directly to the applicant, conditional upon the timely receipt, and accurate completeness of their form, and after confirmation of their attendance at the Big Thinking Summit.
